TruNature Advanced Digestive Probiotic
18.49Trunature Probiotic Review Summary
All things considered, TruNature Probiotic is not a bad probiotic supplement. But it is also far from perfect. The main selling point of TruNature Probiotic is that it delivers a diverse array of probiotic bacteria which have been proven to improve digestion and overall gut microbiome health. However, this is not a cure-all, and it does not fix long-term gut health. TruNature Probiotic contains just 50mg of prebiotic fiber, which compares poorly to the industry standard of 1-2g! For long-term gut health, a combined probiotic and prebiotic supplement is the better option. But for a short-term digestion aid, TruNature probiotic is not a bad option.
What is TruNature Probiotic?
TruNature Probioic, or TruNature Advanced Digestive Probiotic as it is formally known, is a popular probiotic supplement in the US and Canada.
According to the box, TruNature Probiotic delivers the following benefits:
- Helps maintain digestive health
- Supports a healthy immune system
- Naturally restores digestive balance
As is fairly common for probiotics now, TruNature also claim that this is an “advanced” formula, “improved” from an old iteration.
We’ll see about that!
Does TruNature Advanced Digestive Probiotic really work? Is it safe to take this probiotic? What ingredients does TruNature Probiotic contain? Is it the best probiotic for gut health on the market right now? Read my full TruNature Advanced Digestive Probiotic review below and find out!
TruNature Probiotic Ingredients
To really review a probiotic like TruNature Advanced Digestive Probiotic, you need to look at the ingredients in detail.
Here is the TurNature Probiotic ingredients list s it is shown on the website:
In case that isn’t clear, here is the full list of TruNature Advanced Digestive Probiotic ingredients along with dosages and CFUs:
- Probiotic Blend (10 Billion CFUs) – 94mg
- Lactobacillus acidophilus
- Lactobacillus paracasei
- Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG
- Lactobacillus salivarius
- Lactobacillus reuteri

- Lactobacillus plantarum
- Bifidobacterium lactis
- Bifidobacterium infantis
- Bifidobacterium bifidum
- Bifidobacterium longum
- Bifidobacterium breve
- Xylooligosaccharides – 50mg
First of all, I need to point out that this is indeed an expanded version of the supplement; TruNature Probiotic did used to only contain 3 probiotic bctria strains, whereas now each serving provides 12 different bacteria strains.
Here is the old TruNature Probiotic formula for comparison:
It is therefore completely right for TruNature to cal this an “advanced” probiotic; it is now significantly more potent than the first iteration.
I’ll now go over the positives and negatives of the ingredients in more detail. At the end, I’ll give you my opinion of the TurNature Probiotic formula as a whole.
Formula analysis: My take on the TruNature Probiotic ingredients
Overall, this is not a bad probiotic supplement at all. TruNature Advanced Digestive Probiotic provides a good range of effective, proven probiotic bacteria, at a sensible dosage, for a reasonable price.
The diversity of the bacteria strains TruNature Probiotic delivers is definitely a major selling pioint for this gut health supplement. Each serving contains several different strains of both Lactobacillus and Bfidobacterium strains of bacteria.
The selection of bacteria in a probiotic is important. A healthy human gut is home to hundreds of different strains of bacteria, but an optimally healthy microbiome is largely dominated by both Bifidobacerium and Lactobacillus strains, with the others making up a small minority.
It is these bacteria strains which produce the enzymes responsible for breakdown vital nutrients like protein, carbohydrates and fats.
It is these bacteria strains which do most of the work protecting the gut from infection, out-competing harmful bacteria and preventing their growth. Certain strains, such as Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, and Bifidobacterium lactis have been found to be extemely effective for alleviating diarrhea and constipation (especially hat caused by antibiotics).
A potentially bigger selling point of TruNature Advanced Digestive Probiotic is the inclusion of prebiotic fiber in the form of Xylooligosaccharides (XOS).
Xylooligosaccharides are an extremely interesting class of prebiotics. These prebiotics are slightly different to most other pebiotics. Xylooligosaccharides are polymers of the sugar xylose; they have a 5 carbon atom structure (C5), while most prebiotic fibers are based on C6 sugars.
These prebiotiocs have been thoroughly studied in clinical trials and have been found to be highly effective at increasing the numbers of both Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus bacteria strains in the human gut.
The only problem is the dosages used; a good dose of prebiotic fiber is 2-5g daily. This probioic contain 50mg of prebiotic fiber – A TINY DOSE! This is ot going to make any difference to your digestie health at all, although it is better than nothing.
The combination of probiotic bacteria and this top quality prebiotic in TruNature Probiotic makes for a fantastic gut health supplement. But the dosage really ruins the formula; I don’t know why they skimped on this crucial piece of the puzzle!
Overall, TruNature Advanced Digestive Probiotic looks like a great gut health supplement to me. For fixing severe microbiome imbalances, I think this is a good option. Just follow up with a good prebiotic and you’ll enjoy optimal gut health for the long-term.

TruNature Probiotic Side Effects
Is TruNatue Advanced Digestive Probiotic safe?
Will it cause side effects?
Can you take TruNature Probiotic evey day?
These are very important questions which any TruNature Advanced Digestive Probiotic review needs to answer.
Generally speaking, probiotics are not suitable for daily use over the long term. Probiotics tend to introduce large quantities of exogenous bacteria to the gut; often, the contain bacteria that are not usually found in the gut in large quantities. Dumping enormous amounts of unusual bacteria strains onto your gut every single day might fix an imbalance, but it will eventually cause new imbalances!
Taking probiotics every day for prolonged periods will cause side effects including:
- Bloaing
- Stomach cramps
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
- Constipation
- Loss of appetite
The presence of pebiotic fiber in TruNature makes the ocurrence of side effects significantly less likely, but using this probiotic ever day for an unbroken period will eventually cause side effects. If you do experience side effects while using TruNature Advanced Digestive Probiotic, stop taking it immediately and seek medical attention. Side effects should dissipate once you stop taking this probiotic.
TruNature Probiotic FAQs
What about TruNature Women’s Probiotic?
As well as the TruNature Advanced Digestive Probiotic, this brand also have a deciated women’s probiotic, called TruNature Women’s Daily Probiotic. This probiotic supplement is sold as being specifically created to meet the needs of women. However, if you look at the ingredients of TruNature Women’s Probiotic, you’ll see that it is identical to TruNature Advanced Digestive Probiotic apart from the fact that the doses are much lower; half in some cases. There is no reason for these probiotics to have such wildly different dosages. A good dosage for a women’s probiotic is the same dosage you want in a man’s.
When should I take TruNature Advanced Digestive Probiotic?
It is recommended that you take one capsule of TruNature Advanced Digestive Probiotic once per day. Ideally you should take this probiotic in the morning with food and a glass of water; this is how you should take all probiotic and prebiotic supplements.
Is this probiotic available in gummies?
Yes, TruNature Probiotic Gummies can be bought directly from the manufacturer, as well as from Costco, Walmart, GNC, and Amazon. The benefits of taking probiotic gummies are no different ot the benefits of taking probiotic capsules. The only difference is the taste and how you consume them. Some people prefer to take probiotic gummies, and that’s fine! Capsules are more bioavailable and tend to be slightly more effective, but the difference is minimal.
TruNatue Probiotic Review Conclusion: Is this a good gut health supplement?
Is this really the best probiotic on the market right now?
TruNature have certainly made a good probiotic here. TruNature Advanced Digestive Probiotic is more advanced than some of the best probiotics for men on the market today. It combins 12 strains of bacteria shown in clinical trials to be extreemly effectie for improving digestion, promoting gut health and alleviating digstive issues (or symptoms thereof).
Importantly, this probiotic contains some pebiotic fiber, which will selectively feed healthy gut bacteria.
However, the dose of prebiotic you get here is pretty woeful. Fiber should be dosed in grams, not milligrams, let alone doubl digit milligrams! Taking 50mg of Xylooligosaccharides per day is not going to allow beneficial bacteria to thrive. Such a low dose will not make any difference at all to gut health.
So while this might be a good probiotic for fixing gut microbiome imbalances, it is not ideal for supportin long term gut health.
I recommend using TruNature Advanced Digestive Probiotic to fix serious gut microbiome imbalances, and then using a high quality prebiotic daily for several weeks to make your microbiome perfectly healthy.
So What Is The Best Supplement For Digestive Health?
If your goal is to optimize overall digestive health and enjoy all of the benefits that come with it, then the best supplement for you is always going to be a combined prebiotic/probiotic stack which uses a range of probiotic bacteria and a high quality prebiotic fiber such as FOS or Inulin.
Ideally, the probiotic supplement you use will exclusively contain bacteria species that have been proven to improve digestive health, promote immunity, control appetite and improve skin quality in several clinical trials. Bacteria strains you want to look out for include Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium lactis, Lactobacillus paracasei, and Lactobacillus plantarum. These bacteria species are highly beneficial to health and performance.
The type of prebiotic fiber is also important. Not all fibers are the same; some are better than others at feeding healthy bacteria. So it is vital that the best gut health uses prebiotic fiber that is most effective at selectively feeding the healthy bacteria it is introducing to your gut in the first place. This brings us to the most important aspect of a good probiotic - without some prebiotic fiber, taking a probiotic is practically pointless!
After reviewing dozens of popular probiotics and prebiotics, we think there is one clear winner: YourBiology Gut+.
The benefits of taking YourBiology on a daily basis include:
- Lasting changes to gut microbiome
- Promotes weight loss and inhibits weight gain
- Regulates hormones levels (including testosterone and estrogen)
- Better digestion, less bloating, no cramps
- Improved ability to digest dairy

- Higher energy levels all day long
