Bio X4 Review Summary

Although Nucific Bio X4 is quite a good probiotic on the whole, we wouldn’t recommend it to those of you who are looking for lasting, long-term improvements in gut micrbiome health. The probiotic bacteria in BioX4 are standard, and while the other ingredients help with things like digestion and weight management, they don’t justify the ENORMOUS $99 Bio X4 price tag! Better options are available. In any case, we think prebiotics are more effective than probiotics int he long-run, and better value.

Nucific Bio X4 Review: Why is this probiotic so popular?

Nucific Bio X4 is easily the most popular probiotic sold online today. Tens of thousands of people search for information about this probiotic supplement every month: “does Nucific Biox4 really work?”, “does Bio X4 help you lose weight?”, and “when should I use Bio X4?” are just some of the questions that get asked every single month by interested customers.

So why is this gut health supplement so popular?

Nucific Bio X4 reviews

A big reason for Nucific Bio X4’s popularity is the promises it makes. According to the website, this probiotic delivers some serious benefits, including:

  1. Boosts metabolism
  2. Supports smoother digestion
  3. Helps with weight management
  4. Reduces food cravings

It is unusual for a probiotic or prebiotic to sell itself as a kind of diet supplement. Few of Nucific Bio X4’s competitors promise both smoother digestion and help with weight management.

A good quality gut health supplement will definitely help with hunger, food cravings, and weight management. Having a healthier, better functioning gut microbiome helps you better control blood sugar and promotes nutrient absorption.

So the question is, does Nucific Bio X4 really work?

Does Nucific BioX4 really help with weight management and gut health? Is it safe? What are the side effect risks? Is Bio X4 worth the money? Are there better gut health supplements on sale right now? Find out by reading our full Bio X4 review below!

Nucific Bio X4 Ingredients

What is in Bio X4? This is the most important questions for Bio X4 reviews to answer. To properly judge whether or not Bio X4 delivers on its promises, we need to examine the ingredients. After all, personal experiences and user reviews can’t really be trusted.

Here is the Nucific Bio X4 ingredients list:

  • Probiotic blend – 4 billion CFU
    • Lactobacillus blend
    • Bifidobacterium blend
  • Digestive enzyme blend – 43mg
    • Amylase
    • Bromelain
    • Lipase
  • Weight management blend – 100mg
    • Green tea extract (50% EGCG)
  • Craving control blend – 166mg
    • Slimaluma

Here is a shot of the label showing the Bio X4 ingredients along with other details about the formula:

Bio X4 ingredients

We’ll now go through the Bio X4 ingredients in a little more detail. We will explain what the each ingredient does, what the scientific evidence says about its use, and whether we think it works as a BioX4 ingredient. At the end, we’ll give you our verdict of the formula as a whole.

Probiotic blend – 4 billion CFU

The BioX4 “probiotic blend” is absolutely standard for probiotic supplements. It delivers a cocktail of bacterium strains, including 3 different strains of lactobacillus, and two different strains of Bifidobacterium.

You will hear people saying that the exact composition of the bacteria in the BioX4 probiotic blend is in some way important or special. However, it really isn’t; this nice blend of lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium strains is what we see in practically every probiotic on sale today. Consuming all of these bacteria will greatly improve digestion, enhance lactose handling, and help kill off any harmful bacteria in the long and short intestine.

Digestive enzyme blend – 43mg

We think the addition of these four enzymes is a lovely touch from Nucific; it certainly helps BioX4 stand out from the crowd of probiotics all offering very similar things! The Bio X4 digestive enzyme blend does a wonderful job of supporting the breakdown of all the macronutrients.

Amylase breaks down carbohydrates into simple sugars, bromelain is involved in the breakdown of proteins into their constituent amino acids, and lipase is a catalyst for the breakdown of dietary fats into fatty acids. If you are having digestive problems, it might be because you are not producing one or more of these key enzymes. Nucific Bio X4 will not fix the cause of this problem, but it might alleviate symptoms.

If you are doing a lot of physical activity each day, and eating to accommodate recovery and muscle growth, then you are probably eating a significant caloric surplus each day. Eating a large quantity of food each day will put added stress on your digestive system, and a lot of the nutrients will pass through undigested. The Nucific BioX4 enzyme blend will help you digest and absorb a larger proportion of the nutrients you eat.

Weight management blend

Weight management blend – 100mg

We don’t know why Nucific have called this a “blend” because it contains just one ingredient – Green Tea Extract. Now, it’s important to remember that BioX4 is sold as a probiotic and a weight management supplement. So while green tea does not aid with digestion or support a healthy gut microbiome, it is still a great Bio X4 ingredient as it does greatly increase fat loss.

Green tea contains a catechin called EGCG which has been shown in numerous clinical trials to increase weight loss. Incredibly, EGCG has been found to increase the rate of fat loss in humans independently of any variable, including exercise. In other words, EGCG promotes fat loss directly; it doesn’t just make exercise or dieting easier.

Nucific Bio X4 contains 100mg of green tea extract, of which a whopping 50% if EGCG. BioX4 has most of the competition beat here – although there aren’t many fat burning probiotics out there!

Craving control blend – 166mg

The Nucific BioX4 craving control blend, like the weight management blend, is not a blend at all; it’s one ingredient – Slimaluma. Slimaluma is a branded Caralluma Fimbriata extract. We could not find a shred of scientific evidence showing caralluma fimbriata has any positive effects on health or performance in any way. No proof whatsoever. We have no idea why this stuff is an ingredient in this probiotic at all, let alone such a prominent Bio X4 ingredient.

What we like about the Bio X4 formula

There is actually a lot we like about the Bio X4 formula.

A major positive of Bio X4 is the variety of the bacteria in each serving. We get a nice range of probiotic bacteria here.

While all of these probiotic bacteria have many of the same effects on the gut microbiome, they do each have their particular strengths.

Some of the lactobacillus strains are particularly good for helping you process things like lactose without problems.

Certain Bifidobacterium strains in Bio X4 are exceptionally good at fighting off harmful bacteria present in the gut, supporting immune function, and helping to keep the microbiota in the gut healthy. This means the strains in Bio X4 are able to fight and even prevent stomach infections.

We are also really pleased with the enzyme blend that Nucific have included in BioX4. Those enzymes will greatly improve digestion, reducing bloating, and increasing nutrient absorption.

The inclusion of these enzymes makes BioX4 particularly good for people who are currently eating a large volume of food (in an attempt to grow muscle mass), as well as those dieting (who need to squeeze all the nutrition they can out of fewer calories).

Finally, we’re glad to see that Nucific Bio X4 lives up to its promises and promotes weight loss. Each serving of this probiotic contains a large dose of green tea extract which is extremely high in EGCG. Good clinical trials have found that EGCG does promote fat loss.

All-in-all, this is not a bad probiotic for people who are trying to lose weight (or gain weight depending on how you want to utilize it).

What we dislike about Bio X4

Although there is a lot that we like about BioX4, we don’t think it is a perfect probiotic. Not by any stretch.

There is one serious flaw with the Bio X4 ingredients, and that’s the use of Slimaluma.

Slimaluma is a branded Caralluma Fimbriata extract. We have absolutely no idea why this stuff is being sold as a weight loss supplement; we have not been able to find a single piece of hard scientific proof that it promotes weight loss. Nothing. The only people saying that Slimaluma helps you lose fat are the Slimaluma manufacturers and Nucific!

But this is a worse problem than a useless Bio X4 ingredient.

Slimaluma is a branded ingredient, which means it’s likely to be more expensive than all of the other Bio X4 ingredients.

So you’re paying way over the odds for an ingredient that doesn’t do anything!

We think Nucific is trying to capitalise on some ingredient hype here with Slimaluma. Bio X4 would be a much better probiotic if they dropped this ingredient altogether and just lowered the price.

There are issues with some of the other Bio X4 ingredients, but they are minor – the use of the unproven Slimaluma is the thing that stops Bio X4 being a great probiotic.

Probiology prebiotic probiotic benefits

Bio X4 Cost: Should you buy it?

In our opinion, Bio X4 is extremely overpriced.

In fairness, Bio X4 is not a bad probiotic supplement at all. Compared to other probiotics on the market today, Bio X4 is a very attractive proposition. It contains some great ingredients alongside the standard blend of probiotic bacteria.

But is it worth the MASSIVE $99 price tag for a single bottle?

No!

The probiotic bacteria found in BioX4 can be obtained from fermented foods – why would anybody pay $99 for that?

The same goes for the enzymes in this probiotic – bromelain is found naturally in pineapples, while the other enzymes are made naturally in the body. Extra can help, for sure, but not $100 worth of help!

The only other active ingredient is the green tea extract, and here again, you can get all of the benefits of this ingredient from green tea itself.

Bio X4 would be a very attractive probiotic and weight management supplement if it was in the $30-40 price range.

If it were $40, we would definitely advise you to give it a try, as eating lots of yogurt, pineapple and green tea can be difficult and end up costing just as much.

But at $99 a bottle? We’ll pass thanks!

Bio X4 Reviews: What are people saying about this probiotic?

Before buying any probiotic or weight loss supplement, it is worth checking out what other people are saying about it. While user reviews are never as helpful as professional, impartial reviews, looking at soem positive reviews and user complaints can definitely give you an idea of whether a gut health supplement is a scam or not.

So let’s look at some Bio X4 reviews from users. Below is a selection of Bio X4 reviews and complaints taken from Amazon:

Bio X4 reviews

Negative Nucific Bio X4 reviews

As we said above, these Nucific Bio X4 reviews are not going to tell you the full story. Positive Bio X4 reviews usually don’t put the product in the wider context of the market, while negative reviews can often be too harsh. As always, the truth is likely somewhere in the middle.

Side effects: Is Nucific Bio X4 safe?

Probiotics are usually very safe.

The vast majority of probiotics on sale today contain bacteria strains that are found naturally in foods eaten by people around the world on a regular basis. As such, they are highly unlikely to cause side effects or any long-term health issues.

This is certainly true of Bio X4’s ingredients – we don’t see anything in this probiotic that makes us concerned about side effects. As explained above, most of the Bio X4 ingredients can be found in common foods, so they probably wont cause any adverse effects.

Apart for the Slimaluma that is!

Bio X4 side effects

As a relatively untested supplement, Slimaluma poses more side effect risks than we are comfortable with. Until we see some good clinical trials where Slimaluma has both produced benefits and done so without causing side effects, we’ll be staying away from this ingredient (as should you).

You should always be very careful when using probiotic supplements such as BioX4. Although this probiotic supplement looks safe to us, everybody is different. You might have particular medical circumstances that make this – and other probiotics – dangerous.

You need to do your own research thoroughly and talk to your usual physician before you use Nucific Bio X4.

CAUTION – Disclaimer

Probiotics or Prebiotics?

Should you use probiotics or prebiotics?

While most people immediately turn to probiotic supplements like Bio X4 when they want to improve their digestive health, prebiotics might actually be a much better option.

Probiotics work by introducing exogenous bacteria species to the gut. These bacterium create an environment in which your health-promoting gut bacteria can thrive, while simultaneously killing off or “out-competing” harmful bacterium.

Prebiotics, on the other hand, selectively feed your existing healthy gut bacteria while leaving harmful bacterium to starve.

They have the same end goal as probiotics, but they work in a completely different way.

Probiotics or prebiotics?

In our opinion, prebiotics are a much more sustainable, long-term, lasting solution than probiotics.

Probiotics usually deliver transient bacteria species; that is, they only have benefits for a few hours after you’ve consumed them.

Prebiotics, on the other hand, help rebalance your gut microbiome for good.

They can also be taken on a regular basis for far longer periods of time than probiotics (without causing side effects).

If your ultimate goal is to not need probiotics like Bio X4, then consider a combined probiotic and prebiotic supplement instead.

Bio X4 FAQs

Can you take Bio X4 after eating?

Yes you can take Bio X4 after eating. The manufacturers of Bio X4 suggest taking one capsule with each meal (based on three meals per day), but say you can take up to two capsules per meal. Bio X4 is more effective when taken after eating.

Does Bio X4 cause constipation?

While most people who take Bio X4 don’t experience any negative side effects, a significant number of users have reported minor cases of side effects such as constipation, bloating, and nausea. If Bio X4 makes you constipated, stop using it immediately and try a different probiotic/prebiotic supplement.

How quickly does Bio X4 work?

Some Bio X4 reviews posted online claim that the product took 6 weeks to start working. This is typical of probiotics and prebiotics, since it can take some time to start rebalancing your gut microbiome. However, other probiotics can start working much faster, so it is likely that Bio X4 is just lower quality.

Does Caralluma Fimbriata suppress appetite?

Caralluma fimbriata has been found to suppress appetite and keep hunger levels low for several hours following consumption. Bio X4 may therefore be effective for suppressing appetite if the dosage of this ingredient is large enough.

Bio X4 Review Conclusion: Does it work for weight loss?

All things considered, Bio X4 is definitely a good probiotic supplement.

It delivers the same standard range of bacteria species as practically every other probiotic on the market today. These bacteria will promote good digestion, help you process lactose, and help maintain a healthy immune system, both in the gut and the wider body.

But on top of that, it provides added extras which will undoubtedly facilitate healthy digestion, nutrient absorption, and importantly, weight management.

The enzyme blend will help you break down macronutrients, while the weight management blend will actually help you lose body fat (if used alongside a god diet and some exercise).

But is it the best option for promoting good digestive health?

Is it the best probiotic on sale today?

No.

Bio X4 contains a completely useless ingredient, Slimaluma. This is untested and, as far as we know, worthless when it comes to promoting digestive health.

Worse, Slimaluma no doubt contributes to the outrageous $99 Bio X4 price tag. We don’t see why anybody would pay $99 for some bacteria found in yogurt and enzymes the body makes anyway.

In our opinion, most people would benefit far more from a good quality probiotic than probiotics anyway.

Bio X4 is not a bad supplement, but it is not the best option for enhancing gut micrbiome health in the long-term.

So What Is The Best Supplement For Digestive Health?

In a rush? The single best probiotic on the market right now is YourBiology Gut+. We have tried dozens of probiotics and prebiotics, so we can tell you with confidence that this is the best option you can buy right now for improving digestive health, controlling appetite and promoting healthy weight loss.

If your goal is to optimize overall digestive health and enjoy all of the benefits that come with it, then the best supplement for you is always going to be a combined prebiotic/probiotic stack which uses a range of probiotic bacteria and a high quality prebiotic fiber such as FOS or Inulin.

Probiology gut health support

Ideally, the probiotic supplement you use will exclusively contain bacteria species that have been proven to improve digestive health, promote immunity, control appetite and improve skin quality in several clinical trials. Bacteria strains you want to look out for include Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium lactis, Lactobacillus paracasei, and Lactobacillus plantarum. These bacteria species are highly beneficial to health and performance.

The type of prebiotic fiber is also important. Not all fibers are the same; some are better than others at feeding healthy bacteria. So it is vital that the best gut health uses prebiotic fiber that is most effective at selectively feeding the healthy bacteria it is introducing to your gut in the first place. This brings us to the most important aspect of a good probiotic - without some prebiotic fiber, taking a probiotic is practically pointless!

After reviewing dozens of popular probiotics and prebiotics, we think there is one clear winner: YourBiology Gut+.

The benefits of taking YourBiology on a daily basis include:

  • Lasting changes to gut microbiome
  • Better digestion, less bloating, no cramps
  • Improved ability to digest dairy
  • Enhance immune system function
  • Higher energy levels all day long
  • Bealthier skin, hair and nails

Regarding medical testing of caralluma fimbriata (a Bio X4 ingredient) the following may be of interest: ncbi(dot)nlm(dot)nih(dot)gov/pubmed/17097761
In this test it states that “Waist circumference and hunger levels over the observation period showed a significant decline…” and “Caralluma extract appears to suppress appetite, and reduce waist circumference when compared to placebo over a 2 month period.”

Hi Gary, thanks very much for sharing the study. This is indeed an interesting paper. The only concern we have is that the subjects don’t seem to have been monitored throughout the study. They were all given standard advice on diet and exercise, but it isn’t clear whether there was a difference in activity levels between groups. We will take another look at the data on this Nucific Bio X4 ingredient and get back to you. If applicable, we’ll update our review of Bio X4.
