It is a basic probiotic supplement in that it delivers a fairly standard mix of probiotic bacteria. The difference between Synbiotic 365 and every other probiotic supplement on the market is the price; $40 a box is significantly more expensive than the average basic probiotic. There’s no added ingredients and, worse still, no prebiotic fiber in this supplement. For optimal gut health, use a targeted, high quality probiotic and a high quality prebiotic, ideally combined in a single supplement.

Probiotics have become an extremely popular supplement category as of late. Food products infused with digestive enzymes and probiotic bacteria species have flooded the market, and specialist probiotic supplements are becoming much more popular. Like a lot of other probiotics on sale right now, Synbiotic 365 promises to completely revamp and revitalize your gut microbiome.

- Reduced food cravings/better appetite control
These benefits would follow from having a healthier gut microbiome. Your gut microbiome has a massive impact on virtually every aspect of your health and performance, from energy levels to immune system function, so the benefits of improving gut microbiota health are extensive.

So how does Synbiotic 365 work exactly?
Synbiotic 365 is primarily sold as a probiotic. Probiotics are supposed to rebalance your gut microflora (bacteria) in such a way that promotes overall good health and performance, from better immune system function to reduced joint pain in the knee.
The way probiotics do this is by introducing certain species of bacteria which are known to be beneficial for digestive health, or species which are known to out-compete harmful bacterial species in the gut.
For example, most probiotics contain some Bifidobacterium bifidum. This is the most common bacteria found in the (healthy) gut of humans. As many people live lifestyles that suppress this healthful bacteria (low fiber diet, high stress working life, etc.), the typical gut has suboptimal levels of bifidobacterium bifidum. Prebiotics don’t seek to keep topping up certain bacteria species, and they don’t aim to introduce foreign bacteria to out-compete harmful strains. Instead, prebiotics feed your existing, healthy gut bacteria, allowing them to thrive and dominate your gut microbiome (as they should in a healthy gut).
Prebiotics are essentially just water soluble fibers. Your healthy gut bacteria feed on water soluble fiber that passes through the stomach and into the intestine largely unaltered. The best prebiotic supplement will provide highly-bioavailable, nutritious prebiotic fiber which sleectively feed beneficial gut bacteria (leaving harmful bacteria to go hungry).
That is how Synbiotic 365 is supposed to work.

Benefits
In all honesty, the Synbiotic 365 formula is pretty standard for a probiotic.
We have the usual 20 billion CFU of probiotic bacteria. The bacteria listed here are all absolutely typical for a probiotic. These are strains found naturally in the gut in varying ratios, with the likes of Bifidobacterium bifidum and Lactobacillus reuteri being the most abundant.
Introducing these strains to the gut will generally promote a healthier, more robust gut microbiome. If you have any imbalances in your gut microbiota – whether from consuming too much alcohol, not eating enough fiber, or too much stress – the species in Synbiotic 365 should be capable of rectifying that imbalance and getting your gut back in optimal condition.
It’s also encouraging to see some prebiotic fiber in Synbiotic 365; the chicory root inulin will selectively feed your healthy gut bacteria, further encouraging them to populte the gut at the expense of less helpful bacteria species.
The vitamin stack is probably unnecessary, as many people take a multivitamin or B vitmain complex daily. However, B vitamins are involved in the procesing of proteins and carbohydrates in the gut, so they are relevant ingredients for a supplement like Synbiotic 365.
But would we recommend Synbiotic 365 to you?
No, definitely not.
Problems
There are several fundamental flaws with the Synbiotic 365 formula which, in our opinion, makes it a less-than-optimal gut health supplement.
For starters, we don’t think taking a probiotic is the best way to optimize gut health. Prebiotics offer a far more effective, sustainable, and risk-free path to optimal gut health.
Probiotics inject exogenous bacteria species into your gut in unknown quantities. Often, they can cause their own problems, making imbalances worse before they get better. Using them long-term produces further complications (more in the sid effects section).
Prebiotics are much more targeted. They selectively feed your healthful gut bacteria. These healthful gut bacteria then thrive, restoring your own unique, optimal gut microflora profile in just a few weeks.
Then there’s the fact that the probiotic bacteria in Synbiotic 365 are nothing special. These are standard probiotic bacteria species that you will get from any probiotic supplement in the world. Granted, we do get a nice range here which other supplements do not. But it’s still nothing special, despite the claims made by United Naturals.
The addition of chicory root inulin doesn’t save the formula. The 315mg of inulin we get in Synbiotic 365 is nowhere near enough to properly feed your healthy gut microflora and allow them to out-compete the unhealthy bacteria in your digestive tract. The best prebiotics around at the minute provide several grams of inulin!
All things considered, this is a pretty poor formula as far as high-end gut supplements go. It doesn’t compare well to the best probiotics or the best prebiotics on sale today.
If you’re serious about optimizing your gut for health and performance, use a professional-quality prebiotic with clinically-proven ingredients.
Synbiotic 365 Side Effects: Is it safe?
Like all probiotics, Synbiotic is unlikely to cause serious adverse health effects. Most good probiotics will provide bacteria species that are either endogenous (naturally-occuring) in the human gut, or found commonly in food.
There is nothing in Synbiotic 365 wich gives us serious cause for concern.
That said, all probiotics can cause side effects. Consuming exogenous bacteria species in such high concentrations – and in unknown ratios – always poses risks. Common side effects from probiotics include:
- Bloating
- Nausea
- Gas
- Cramps
- Diarrhea
- Gut microbiome imbalances
The risk inherent in all probiotics, Synbiotic 365 included, is the reason we recommend prebiotics for gut health and not probiotics.
Pricing: Is Synbiotic 365 worth the money?
Is Synbiotic worth the price tag?
After doing a thorough review of the formula, we really don’t think so. To use, Synbiotic 365 looks extremely over-priced, like most probiotics of this sort.
This is a lot for a supplement that provides nothing that you can’t get from a good active culture yogurt or another fermented food and a good B vitamin stack.
You’d be better off spending that money on more fermented foods, a more comprehensive probiotic supplement, or a high quality prebiotic.
How do probiotics affect your joints?
Probiotics like Synbiotic 365 may be able to drastically reduce joint pain and stiffness. This may be extremely surprising to a lot of you. Your gut and your joints have seemingly nothing to do with one another. However, this is wrong; your gut and your joints are tied to one another just as the gut is tied to every other part of your body!
Your gut actually influences your gut in a few different ways at once. One of the main ways it does is by modulating your immune system. Your gut microbiome has a direct influence on how your immune system works. Compared to some of the probiotics out there which come stacked with vitamins, minerals, “superfoods” and digestive enzymes, Synbiotic doesn’t look like a good option at all.
When you consider that probiotics are not even the most effective or safest way of promoting gut health, it becomes clear that Synbiotic 365 is an unattractive offer.
If you want to promote better gut microbiome health – and enjoy all the benefits that come with it – use a high-quality prebiotic.
So What Is The Best Supplement For Digestive Health?
If your goal is to optimize overall digestive health and enjoy all of the benefits that come with it, then the best supplement for you is always going to be a combined prebiotic/probiotic stack which uses a range of probiotic bacteria and a high quality prebiotic fiber such as FOS or Inulin.
Ideally, the probiotic supplement you use will exclusively contain bacteria species that have been proven to improve digestive health, promote immunity, control appetite and improve skin quality in several clinical trials. Bacteria strains you want to look out for include Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium lactis, Lactobacillus paracasei, and Lactobacillus plantarum. These bacteria species are highly beneficial to health and performance.
The type of prebiotic fiber is also important. Not all fibers are the same; some are better than others at feeding healthy bacteria.
