Overview

Performance Lab MCT is easily the best MCT oil supplement on sale right now. The competing brands simply can’t match the quality of the oil offered here. This MCT oil provides C8 and C10 MCTs, which are the most beneficial for health and performance. The oil is derived from organic, non-GMO coconuts using a hexane-free distillation process, and then triple filtered for purity. The product is taste and odor-neutral, making it perfect for mixing into salads, recipes, or shakes. A top-tier supplement.

Performance Lab MCT Reviews – What does it do?

Performance Lab MCT seems to have gone unnoticed by many of the larger supplement review sites.

MCT oils are not as widely-used as protein powders or multivitamins, so they don’t get the same kind of attention. However, among athletes, biohackers and health fanatics, this product is making some serious noise. So what does Performance Lab MCT do?

Performance Lab MCT reviews

The guys at Performance Lab aren’t scared of making promises. According to the official website, Performance Lab MCT can:

  1. Rapidly boost mental and physical energy
  2. Promote sustained energy throughout the day
  3. Protect brain cells from damage
  4. Increase satiety meaning reduced food intake
  5. Support mental performance during ketosis or fasting
  6. Increase energy expenditure to promote fat loss

That is a very impressive range of benefits for an MCT oil supplement. But according to Performance Lab, this is not just a normal MCT oil! Like all Performance Lab products, this MCT oil promises to offer unrivaled purity, ingredient quality, and value for money.

The question is, does it really deliver?

Does Performance Lab MCT really do all these things? Is it good value for money? Is Performance Lab MCT safe? Is it the best MCT oil on sale right now? Find out by reading our in-depth Performance Lab MCT review below.

Performance Lab MCT ingredients

Here is the Performance Lab MCT ingredients as displayed on the label:

Performance Lab MCT ingredients

Here is a breakdown of the Performance Lab MCT formula:

MCT oils – 12.2g

  • C8 Caprylic acid – 7.1g
  • C10 Capric acid – 5.1g

We’ll now take you through the Performance Lab MCT ingredients one-by-one. We’ll explain what they are, whether or not they work, and what the available scientific evidence has to say. If you have any questions, please post them in the comments at the end.

Caprylic acid – 7.1g

Caprylic acid, often abbreviated to C8, is probably the medium chain triglyceride most beneficial to human health and performance. This MCT is absorbed as rapidly as glucose in the human digestive system. One it reaches the liver, it converts extremely easily into ketones. This provides a ready source of fuel for your brain without you having to break ketosis or spike your insulin levels – something which both carbohydrates and protein will do.

A major benefit of caprylic acid is how much it has been studied; the clinical trials which show the most pronounced benefits of MCT oils have used refined caprylic acid. The fact that Performance Lab MCT is 60% caprylic acid is a major selling point.

Capric acid – 5.1g

Capric acid is often overlooked by supplement manufacturers, but it is a highly beneficial medium chain triglyceride. Capric acid has many of the same benefits as caprylic acid; it is rapidly absorbed and converted to ketones, it supports mitochondrial efficiency, and it has been shown to promote satiety.

However, the best thing about stacking caprylic and capric acid together is that you get some unique benefits that you don’t get by taking these MCTs alone. Clinical trials have found that taking capric acid and caprylic acid together can increase the number of mitochondria in your cells. This will increase energy metabolism around the clock.

By including capric acid, this supplement more closely resembles coconut oil. This is how you will encounter these MCTs in nature. Because it is so close to natural sources of medium chain triglycerides, your body will find it extremely easy to use this MCT oil.

Our analysis: Is Performance Lab MCT any good?

In our opinion, this is the best MCT oil on the market today.

Performance Lab MCT ticks all the boxes.

For starters, each 12.2g serving is split between the two most beneficial medium chain triglycerides – 60% caprylic acid and 40% capric acid. By removing the C6 and C12 medium chain triglycerides, Performance Lab MCT delivers all of the benefits of MCTs without any of the downsides (stomach cramps, diarrhea, unpleasant tastes, etc.).

Unlike other MCT oil supplements that provide only caprylic acid, Performance Lab MCT provides both caprylic acid and capric acid.

Caprylic acid is probably the best MCT in terms of enhancing health and performance. But it isn’t the only beneficial MCT.

Combining these two MCTs produces benefits not seen when taking them separately, and it more closely resembles MCTs as they are found in nature.

To top it all off, we have ingredient quality not seen anywhere else on the market. This MCT oil is derived from 100% non-GMO, organic-certified coconuts. The oil is taste-neutral, making it ideal for adding to salads, cereal, or pre-workout shakes.

While other MCT oils might be cheaper, they can’t match the quality offered here by Performance Lab.

If you’re looking for a pure, high-spec MCT oil, then this is the product for you. Performance Lab MCT is the best product of its kind currently on sale.

We think this will remain the highest quality MCT oil supplement for some time. Few manufacturers are willing to sacrifice profits for ingredient quality, whereas Performance Lab have made doing so part of their brand.

The sheer quality of Performance Lab MCT has the competition beat hands down. A top-tier MCT oil like this can help with everything from cognitive function to weight management. A great product all round.

Side effects – Is Performance Lab MCT safe?

Generally speaking, MCT oil supplements are extremely safe to use.

Even when used on a regular basis, MCTs rarely cause any noticeable side effects.

Performance Lab MCT side effects

Some people do find that things like coconut water cause side effects including:

  • Cramping
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Indigestion

But good MCT oil supplements like Performance Lab MCT shouldn’t cause these same issues.

The main cause of digestive discomfort is C12 lauric acid. This medium chain triglyceride is found in large quantities in coconut oil and coconut water. It causes indigestion and general digestive issues.

This MCT oil contains only C8 and C10 MCTs.

These MCTs are not known to cause side effects when used in sensible amounts, even for prolonged periods of time. None of the studies looking at the use of these supplements have noted any notable side effects.

MCT oil supplements also lack the other saturated fats that you get from coconut oil, meaning they will not have the same negative effect on cardiovascular health or body mass.

All-in-all, Performance Lab MCT looks like a very safe supplement to us.

CAUTION – Disclaimer

It is absolutely crucial that you do your own research thoroughly before using any MCT oil. While generally safe, these supplements are not for everybody. Talk to your regular physician before using Performance Lab MCT. We are not doctors. This is not medical advice.

Review summary – Is Performance Lab MCT a good purchase?

If you’re looking for an MCT oil to help you with your diet, your training, or your cognitive performance, then you can’t do any better than this product.

As far as we’re concerned, Performance Lab MCT is the single best product of its kind on the market right now.

It provides a healthy dose of the two most beneficial MCTs.

In doing so, it closely resembles natural MCT sources, but without providing any of the nasty, indigestion-causing MCTs like lauric acid or caproic acid.

Derived from organic, non-GMO coconuts and triple-filtered for maximum purity, Performance Lab MCT is clearly the cream of the crop.

The fact that the price tag is just $30 for a 31 serving bottle is a big surprise to us; lower quality products are currently on sale for more than this!

Overall, this is another great supplement from Performance Lab. This is the only MCT oil supplement we recommend to our readers because the competition can’t match this kind of quality for the same price.

You can only purchase MCT directly from PerformanceLab.com.

FAQs

Can Performance Lab MCT be used for cooking?

Yes absolutely! You can ass Performance Lab MCT to things like salads, sauces, or breakfast bowls. It would also make a great addition to post or pre-workout shakes.

How long does it last?

Most people experience the benefits of Performance Lab MCT for a good few hours after taking it. You should feel less hungry and a little more focused for 2-3 hours post consumption.

Can I use MCT oil every day?

MCT oil supplements are – obviously – very high in saturated fat. You therefore need to make sure that your diet is appropriately planned before you start taking them every single day. But assuming your diet allows for the extra fat intake, yes you can take MCT oil every day.

Where can I buy Performance Lab MCT?

All Performance Lab products are sold exclusively on their merchant site; you can’t buy Performance Lab MCT from stores or third-party retailers.

Will Performance Lab MCT help me lose weight?

MCT oils, when properly used, can definitely help you achieve your weight loss goals. However, they are not a magic pill, and MCT oil will not promote fat loss if not used as a tool alongside a healthy diet and plenty of exercise.
