Open Health Tools is formed exclusively as a non-profit trade association, as set out in section 501(c)(6) of the US Internal Revenue Code. And Open Health Tools is an open source organization, responsible for a growing and complex ecosystem. This combination means that there is a relatively large body of legal/policy documents governing the range of Open Health Tools’ activities. - Legal and Licensing FAQs – providing answers to some of the more common questions.

Governance and Membership Documents
- Bylaws – which describe how Open Health Tools is governed
- Membership Agreement – which all members sign and which gives an overview of the rules concerning membership
- Membership Application – for persons, organizations and other entities to apply to join Open Health Tools
- Logo and Trademark Usage Agreement – so that we can use members’ logos to indicate their participation
- Antitrust Policy – describes the code of conduct required by Open Health Tools’ members to ensure compliance with antitrust laws.

- Copyright Infringement Notification Procedure – which should be followed if you feel that there is content on this website that infringes your copyrights.
- Intellectual Property Policy – governs how Open Health Tools handles Intellectual Property issues.
- Open Health Tools Software User Agreement. By downloading builds or accessing the Open Health Tools software repository, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the terms and conditions contained in this agreement. This is an overall agreement that governs all Open Health Tools Projects – and provides details on how to determine which open source license (such as the Eclipse Public License) applies to each software component. This license has not yet been approved, but will be available before the Open Health Tools Projects go live.
- Eclipse Public License – the license under which, for the most part, Open Health Tools software is made available.
